Interesting eBay Auctions of the Week
February 23rd, 2012 | Published in Interesting eBay Auctions
Happy Thursday! Here are the week’s interesting eBay auctions for vintage football cards and related collectibles:
- I don’t think I’ve seen a full set of 1974 Town Talk Bread cards before. If you think they look like 1974 Wonder Bread cards, you’re right: the only difference is the absence of a credit line on the back. (Well, and $2879.) You can read about the 1974-1976 Town Talk cards in one of my old articles, W is for Wonder Bread–and Other Food Issues.
- It’s a good week for food cards: here are all of the football cards in the 1952 Wheaties set. There are a total of 60 cards in the multi-sport Wheaties set, and 12 of them feature football players. You can see the most of the set, on uncut panels, in an old thread in the Collectors Universe forum.
- More food cards, and something I haven’t seen before: an uncut strip of three 1970 Kellogg’s football cards. (The seller says they’re 1970 Topps Glossy cards, but that’s a mistake. These are 1970 Topps Super Glossies.)
- Uncut sheet lovers, here’s a sheet of second series 1961 Fleer football cards. For details on who is on it, see my 1961 Fleer virtual uncut sheet page.
- Here are examples of some of the scarcer 1948 Leaf variations: Vince Banonis with his name in white, Bill Fischer with a white background between his knees, and Pete Pihos with blue jersey numbers.
- Finally, think Al knows that someone is selling his 1963 Topps Jim Brown card?
