[...] The two stamps in the photo marked “NEW PLAYER” are from the update set. The NEW PLAYER part detaches from the rest of the stamp along a perforation. You can see this in better detail in an earlier article. [...]

Thanks for the nice words and putting up the link to my auctions.
As for the update set, these is no Franco Harris RC.The biggest stars in the uodate set are a Bobby Moore RC(he later changed his name to Ahmad Rashad),Cliff Branch RC, and Jim Langer RC. You are correct that they removed players to fit the update players onto the team sheets.
The team sheets and update stamps were only available thru mail in. You could order the whole team sheets or singles of any player.
I can send an update stamp order form(copy, not original) to anyone who wants to send me a SASE. Please contact me at robscards@embarqmail.com.
Both size albums, 56pg and 128pg, had the same 144 stamps inside. There are very few stars in the 144 stamps-a Lyle Alzado RC is about it. Thanks again! Rob Lewis

Hi John, thanks for checking in. I don't see a Franco Harris stamp on the checklist, and the checklist includes both the orginal and update stamps. It's interesting: from the checklist it appears that the update stamps replaced some of the original stamps, rather than being an add-on set. From that I infer that the stamps they replaced were somewhat short-printed.

I remember collecting these back in 1972. There was always a rumor that there were update stamps but I never saw them. I guess that is what Costa and Thompson are. I believe there is a 1972 Franco Harris rookie also.
