A Tour of the Vintage Football Card Gallery

As the About page says, the Vintage Football Card Gallery is a reference site. The cards in the gallery are not for sale, but I do have lots of cards for sale on my Nearmint’s Vintage Football Cards site.
You can search the gallery for your favorite set, team, player, or college. To do complex searches, such as “Show all the rookie cards of Hall of Fame players named Bob,” try the Advanced Search page.
On the Site Map you will find links to other miscellaneous pages. Among them:
- A page that shows a bunch of cards that picture the wrong player
- A page showing lots of vintage football card wrappers
- Interactive team cards: 1959 Topps New York Giants, 1961 Topps Green Bay Packers, 1963 Topps Dallas Cowboys, 1964 Topps Oakland Raiders, and 1967 Philadelphia Cleveland Browns
- Puzzles of Bart Starr, Len Dawson, and Fran Tarkenton, assembled from the backs of 1968 and 1969 Topps football cards
- Examples of pre-rookie cards, minor issues that were printed before players’ commonly accepted rookie cards
- “Virtual” uncut sheets of cards: 1948 Bowman, 1958 Topps, 1959 Topps, 1960 Fleer, 1960 Topps, 1961 Fleer, 1962 Topps, 1963 Fleer, 1966 Philadelphia, 1968 Topps, 1969 Topps, and 1970 Topps Super.

The ABCs of football cards is awesome. Just noticed you omitted Nick Buoniconti as one of the 1963 Fleer HOF rookie cards in the set. I just finished off the trio with a nice ebay pick-up of the Dawson.

Just now found your great site.
You must of put a lot of time in creating VINTAGE.
You seam to go about this like you have a real passion for sports cards and getting information to the collectors.
VERY helpful, you deserve to succeed.

I’ve been collecting NY GIANTS football cards for about 25 years.I thought I knew them all.I’ve yet to meet anybody who has a more extensive list of GIANTS cards than mine.BUT every now & then something pops up that is not on my list.The 1969 Topps Tarkenton puzzle is one of those things I didn’t know about.Thanks.Great site.

I too just found your site and love it.
Do you write about the topic of whether its worthwhile to get one’s cards graded? I’ve got several thousand cards from the 60s and early 70s and would like to start selling some. Any input would be appreciated.

Hi Michael,
To decide whether to have a card graded, I try to determine if grading it would increase its value. First I guess the grade that a grading company would give it, and then I look at past sales on eBay to see what that card has sold for. If the card in that condition sells for significantly more graded than ungraded, I’ll add the card to my pile to be graded. The key, of course, is guessing what grade a grading company will give the card. That takes some practice.
